Super Soakers zijn terug en onverwachts herrezen uit het graf. Onze paden kruisten elkaar weer, de wind stond er naar en het klikte meteen. De verstreken tijd heeft onze jeugdige branie en naïeve wanhoop omgevormd tot geheelde littekens en onbevredigde vraagtekens. We zijn volwassen geworden door ervaring, maar de energie is gebleven. Met het lied als fundament zetten we onze eigen traditie voort van gevatte teksten en een wirwar aan staccato riffs. Geïnspireerd door de nacht, contradicties en boosheid proberen we zowel betekenis als schoonheid te scheppen.

The Super Soakers start of the new year with their 3rd EP ‘Shepherd and the Scapegoat’, and a newly acquired band member. Not as a superficial New Years resolution, but more out of bitter necessity. The EP diverts from the straightforward staccato approach that is traditional to the Super Soakers. Melancholia, ballads and gloom are explored while sung together via engaged lyrics about rotting secrets, expected populist rhetoric and the death of nuance. Where the words serve the productive function of sense-making of the absurdity of existence, the live shows break the seriousness down again to celebrate the chaos. This attacking strategy resulted in the production of 3 EPs in their reunion year, (2022) with victories at the Valkhof festival; ‘Fresh and refined racket makes Poort stage burst at the seams’ (3voor12 Gelderland) and the Vera in Groningen; ‘With their enormous amount of energy, they set fire to the entire cellar bar.’ (3voor12 Groningen). On the 28th of Januari, they will play the release show in a sold-out Merleyn in their hometown of Nijmegen.
