INDIAN ASKIN – short bio

Indian Askin is Amsterdam-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Nelson “Chino” Ayala. His band has seen many forms given a string of past members since the original conception in 2007.

After many years of musical exploration by himself, he was introduced to producers Peter Kriek and Ariaan Olieroock (16BL/Cubicolor) in 2011 and from there began to hone in on his songwriting and recording skills. Indian Askin’s sound can be described as groovy, noisy, and quirky. He finds equal inspiration in South American influences drawn from his family heritage via his father Lincoln Almada, a Paraguayan harpist and percussionist, as he does from an unhealthy obsession for 90s punk rock and grunge.

Indian Askin dropped his debut album Sea Of Ethanol in April 2016, with the album entering the Dutch Album charts at a solid #8 position and winning an Edison in the Best Newcomer category. This was followed by the release of the second album Another Round and several successful club tours. Indian Askin has proven to be a warmly welcomed guest at festivals, having played at Pinkpop, Lowlands, Zwarte Cross, and the main stage of Best Kept Secret, among others.

At the moment, Indian Askin is cooking up his third studio album.
