national newspaper De Volkskrant: ‘MASTERFUL AND THRILLING’ and ‘A MUSICAL MIRACLE!’

The year 2009 was for trumpet player Collin Benders, a.k.a. Kyteman, an absolute triumph. From seemingly out of nowhere he creates his Hiphop Orkest, which blends an exciting mix of (big band) jazz, hiphop, reggae, pop, Balkan beats and classical music. His debut performance during the Noorderslag festival in Groningen turns out to be the highlight of the entire festival, and the start of one success following yet another. His debut album “The Hermit Sessions” does extremely well and stays nearly continuously in the Album Top 20, with the gorgeous single “Sorry” missing the Number 1 spot by just a hair. The foundation of his success is without a doubt the sensational performances of his Hiphop Orkest, 24 members strong. The press has been unanimous in their praise. VPRO’s 3VOOR12 describes his Noorderslag debut by writing ‘some people have already called him the hiphop Mozart. He is, to say the least, a phenomenon’

The Volkskrant national newspaper says the Orkest is ’the sensation of the festival’ and the same paper describes a Kyteman show in the Melkweg, Amsterdam as ‘a spectacular pageant with unparalleled expression’. The international Pinkpop festival became ‘the greatest Kyte-fest ever experienced’ and ‘Kyteman writes history’ at the famed Lowlands festival, in the summer of 2009.

A high-quality registration of one of the most spectacular performances of Kyteman’s Hiphop Orkest, could not be omitted: as a memory for everyone who was lucky enough to be there, and also as an introduction for all of the music lovers who somehow managed to miss the phenomenon that spread through all the major club venues and festivals in the Netherlands in 2009 – Kyteman’s Hiphop Orkest.
Now for the first time available on vinyl.
Exclusively for Record Store Day 2025 in a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on crystal clear vinyl.
