A Love Supreme is the epochal, groundbreaking jazz album by saxophone master John Coltrane. Originally released in February 1965, it is generally considered one of the most influential records in jazz history, introducing a spiritual dimension and expanding the genre to include revolutionary, avant-garde timbres, aspects developed by countless other artists. It is by far Coltrane’s biggest-selling album, and one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time.
The manuscript for A Love Supreme has been included in the National Museum of American History’s ‘Treasures Of American History’ collection at the Smithsonian Institution.
